Walden University - Degrees and Programs
SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Founded by two New York Teachers, Walden was started as a way for adults in the workforce to pursue advanced degrees. Walden College's mission is to provide career professionals the opportunity to transform themselves into scholar-practitioners all with the goal of effecting social change positively. The College of Education at Walden was recently renamed The Richard W. Riley COllege of Education and Leadership - in honor of the former U.S. Secretary of Education. Walden is owned partially by Sylvan Learning Systems, who purchased 41% of the University in 2001. As a testament to the high-quality of education they provide, in a 2007 Employer Survey over 99% of employers who hired a Walden graduate said they would hire another Walden U. graduate as well.
