Broward County Public Schools, a public school district in Broward County, Florida, claims to be the largest fully-accredited school district in the United States, and is the sixth-largest overall. During the 2006/2007 term, the District served 262,616 students. The district covers a total of 273 institutions: 138 elementary schools, 42 middle schools, 32 high schools, 6 adult/vocational schools, 10 centers, and 45 charter schools, with one high school under construction (West Broward, in Pembroke Pines).
